We would love to hear updates from those of you who have been studying abroad, or doing service in other locations this summer. Where were you and what are one or two things that stand out for you as you reflect on that time?

Hello, Open Table family! I moved to Los Angeles exactly two weeks ago to start graduate school. My dad and I drove for two long days across the beautiful southwest, stopping overnight in Albuquerque, NM, and arrived Thursday, July 16. One of the best things about LA so far has been Pasadena Mennonite Church - a smallish group of peace-and-justice-minded folks, so similar to Open Table that I feel right at home! Several members donated furniture to help me get settled in my new apartment.

Those of us "back at the home base" are continuing our work and discernment as to who we are, where we connect, and where we are going. On Sunday Karla led a very productive worship service, I thought, if worship can be spoken of in those terms! We are thinking with pleasure about being ready to receive those who will be returning from the summer and others we hope will come and see. We do enjoy hearing from those of you, who like Hillary, are launching into new things. Eva is also now on her way, and we look forward to news from her and support all of you who have been part of us. Blessings,

Hello all! Suddenly it's been almost 3 weeks since I left and I haven't given an update! VS here in Alamosa is wonderful (although the train ride here was a bit of an adventure). Perfect weather, a great group of housemates, an excellent place for me to work (at the Center for Restorative Programs), and a cozy little church. Yes, a LITTLE church. We think we're small at OT but the Mennonite fellowship here is teeny-tiny! I'm almost completely adjusted to the altitude and I can't wait to climb some mountains. My work involves a lot of mediations, circle processes with youth who have alcohol/marijuana tickets (I'm in charge of a youth diversion program), phone calls, going to court with our clients, and having fun with my co-workers. The San Luis Valley is absolutely beautiful and I'm only 30 minutes away from the Great Sand Dunes so if you ever come out here for a vacation/trip, let me know! Sending my love and missing being with all of you. - Eva
